The chemistry is a cathodic epoxy amine adduct, and the epoxy backbone is what delivers adhesion to bare and pretreated metal plus the alkali resistance to survive the bath itself. Acrylic e-coats exist and hold UV far better, which is why they are used on wheels and exposed hardware, but they lose the corrosion argument on a body and cost more.

Rigid PCBDOMINANT
FR-4 is a brominated or phosphorus flame-retardant epoxy matrix; it hits UL 94 V-0, a Tg of 130 to 180 C for lead-free reflow, and the lowest cost per square inch of any qualified dielectric.
Rigid-flex PCBDOMINANT
The rigid sections are standard FR-4 or high-Tg epoxy so the assembler sees a normal SMT surface and standard drilling.
HDI PCBDOMINANT
HDI uses high-Tg, low-Dk epoxy and resin-coated copper build-up dielectrics that laser-ablate cleanly for microvias and hold registration across sequential lamination.

Two-part epoxy is the cost default for power supplies, sensors, and transformers: hard, moisture-proof, and chemically resistant, at the price of no rework and high stress on components.
