Where SBR Is Used in North American Manufacturing

SBR blends appear in lower-cost mounts and in the softer generator and auxiliary equipment isolators where the load is modest and the dynamic requirement is noise rather than alignment. SBR is cheaper than natural rubber and gives up some resilience and fatigue life for it, which is an acceptable trade on a mount carrying a small genset that will be replaced before the mount matters. On a main engine mount the trade is not acceptable, and the difference shows up as creep over the first two seasons rather than as a failure, which makes it a warranty conversation rather than a breakdown.

NR/SBR blends on lower-load bushings and on cost-led programs, trading some fatigue life for a cheaper compound and better ozone resistance than straight NR

SBR inner tubes on older designs and on some low-cost programs, adequate in brake fluid but with a shorter life than EPDM under heat and ozone

SBR and recycled rubber composite pads are the volume product at the wholesale counter: a moulded or bonded-crumb pad sold by size, priced by the unit, and selected by nobody in particular. They provide some isolation and they weather poorly, and they are what most residential units in North America are actually sitting on. Naming this honestly matters, because a supplier who models this part family on the engineered commercial product will badly overestimate the value the residential channel places on it.
