Electrical
Connector housingDOMINANT
PBT is the default connector resin: dimensionally stable across humidity, molds thin latches and terminal cavities to tight tolerance, and takes flame retardant without losing flow
Fuse boxCOMMON
PBT busbar carriers and terminal blocks where creepage distance and dimensional stability matter more than cost
Battery module housingCOMMON
PBT for busbar carriers and voltage sense connectors inside the module where dimensional stability drives terminal fit
Harness Components
Connector housingCOMMON
PBT is specified where dimensional stability in humidity outranks mechanical strength, which is most signal connectors and nearly everything on a Japanese transplant program where PBT usage runs higher than on Detroit-domestic ones. It molds to tighter tolerances than PA66, holds them through a wet climate, and gives up impact resistance and heat performance to do it, which is why it appears on small connectors and rarely on a large sealed one.
Junction blockCOMMON
PBT junction blocks appear on smaller in-door and in-IP blocks where the current is modest and the dimensional stability in humidity is worth more than the strength. As with connectors, PBT usage runs higher on transplant programs than on Detroit-domestic ones.
Fuse box housingCOMMON
PBT is the interior fuse box answer, where the temperature is moderate, the load is lower, and the dimensional stability in humidity is the more useful property. The interior box is also more likely to be a serviceable, user-accessible part, which puts a cosmetic requirement on it that the engine bay box does not have.
High Voltage Harness
Charge inlet harnessCOMMON
PBT is used on the inlet's internal carriers and the lower-load moldings where dimensional stability in humidity matters more than mechanical strength. Its advantage over PA66 is that it barely takes on moisture, so a molded contact spacing is the same in Phoenix and in Miami, and that is worth more than strength on a part whose job is to hold position rather than carry load.
Lighting
Headlamp housingCOMMON
PBT and PBT/ASA for bezels and reflector carriers that are metallized and sit closest to the LED heat sink

Connector and Interface Molding
Connector body and housingCOMMON
Glass-filled PBT is the cost step down: coarser pitch, thicker walls, through-hole and wave-soldered parts, and surface-mount parts where a little warpage is tolerable. It is dimensionally stable in humidity, holds a V-0 rating easily, and molds cleanly. It will not hold a 0.4 mm wall through reflow, which is the line between it and LCP.
Industrial and DIN Rail
Sensor housingDOMINANT
PBT is the sensor housing resin because it is dimensionally stable in moisture, resists the coolant, cutting fluid, and washdown chemistry a proximity or temperature sensor lives in, and it is the resin most reliably overmolded directly onto lead frames and electronics without damaging them. It also holds a V-0 rating in glass-filled grades and bonds well to the potting compound behind it.
Interconnect
I/O connectorDOMINANT
PBT is the default insulator for USB-A, RJ45, and D-sub bodies: dimensionally stable, V-0, and cheap in the large shot sizes these parts use.
Board-to-board connectorCOMMON
Glass-filled PBT is the cost step down for coarser pitch and through-hole headers where reflow warpage is tolerable.
Wire-to-board connectorCOMMON
PBT replaces PA66 where moisture uptake would cause dimensional drift or where the header must be reflow-soldered rather than wave-soldered.

Common
Motor and pump housingDOMINANT
Glass-filled PBT is the volume housing and encapsulation resin for appliance pump and fan motors: it holds its dimensions wet, carries the UL 94 and relative thermal index ratings the motor file needs, molds thin around a stator, and resists the detergent and condensate a drain pump lives in
Medical Devices

Devices
Inhaler housingCOMMON
PBT takes the parts that must hold dimension across humidity: dose counter escapements, blister piercing elements, and airflow channel inserts. PP moves with moisture and temperature more than a dose counter can tolerate over a 200 dose life
HVAC & Water Heating

Outdoor Unit
Control box and housingCOMMON
Glass-filled PBT for terminal blocks, contactor bases, capacitor covers, and sensor bodies: it holds dimension wet, carries the comparative tracking index and relative thermal index the agency file needs, and does not need a halogenated flame retardant to reach V-0
Lawn, Garden & Outdoor Power

Power Unit
Engine shroud and coverCOMMON
Glass-filled PBT on recoil housings, ignition covers, and the parts of the shroud assembly carrying electrical components, where dimensional stability in humidity matters more than the last few degrees of heat resistance
Battery pack housingCOMMON
Glass-filled flame-retardant PBT on the terminal block, the cell holder, and the battery management board carrier, where tracking resistance and dimensional stability in humidity are the requirements a pack fails on in the field
Cordless motor housingCOMMON
Glass-filled PBT on the controller pocket, the hall sensor carrier, and the switch housing, where the comparative tracking index and the thermal index on the UL Yellow Card are what the agency file needs

Cell & Module
Busbar insulatorDOMINANT
Glass-filled PBT is the default because comparative tracking index is the deciding property at 1,500 VDC and PBT holds CTI 600 grades while staying dimensionally stable enough to locate a stamped busbar to a few tenths of a millimeter.
Pack & Enclosure
Terminal coverDOMINANT
Touch-safe covers over terminals and fuse blocks are PBT for the same reason the busbar insulator is: tracking resistance at high DC voltage decides, and PBT holds a CTI 600 grade.
Solar
Module junction boxCOMMON
PBT diode carriers and insert parts inside the box handle the local temperature around a bypass diode better than the box body resin does.
Who supplies it
Companies mapped at Tier 2 or Tier 3 selling resins into the 7 industries where PBT is used, largest first. At most 12 are listed. Tier and industry placement for each company is in the report for that market.
