It is friable, it does not survive handling well, and it costs several times what a PET felt does, so it goes where performance justifies it: premium programs, high output engines and locations close to the turbocharger.

Off-Highway Cab

Melamine is inherently flame resistant, holds up well above the temperature where polyurethane yellows and crumbles, and absorbs broadband, which is what an enclosure needs. This is the part of the off-highway market where the material choice is nearly made for you
